This Project
_
The purpose of this website
is to educate individuals on the importance of nonverbal communication when
dealing with deception. Research across various disciplines has been carefully studied
in order to compile this information. Along with reading academic papers and
books, the Facial Action Coding System (FACS) was also examined to better
understand how facial expressions can portray deception. The project will examine
nonverbal communication research from its beginning to current research that
focuses on facial expression. Aspects of lies will also be explored, including
definitions of lies, types, belief, and why many individuals lie. Accompanying this
analysis of lies will also be a section on catching lies. Between research
studies and interviews the paper will explore actions that many people believe give
a liar away along with a section on which individuals are best at catching
lies.
